Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust (CCS) has been commissioned to deliver a vision screening programme for all foundation pupils in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. We are working closely with the Orthoptic service at local hospitals to ensure pupils receive the best possible outcomes should a referral be required.
Screening for vision defects is part of the ‘Healthy Child Programme’, and the aim of vision screening is early identification of children with amblyopia (Lazy Eye). Amblyopia is a relatively common condition that can often go unrecognised; however, treatment can improve long term vision and have a positive effect on academic learning and development. As well as screening children for any other visual defects.
If you have any questions regarding this service, please contact the Vision Screening Team on ccs.cambs.pboro.childrenshealth@nhs.net and someone to contact you.
