About the School
There are three stages of education in school:
- Early Years Foundation Stage for children aged 4 - 5 years old.
- Key Stage One for children aged 5-7 years old.
- Key Stage Two for children aged 7-11 years old.
We also manage our Pre-school for children aged 2 years 9 months to 4+ years. Children are entitled to 15 hours of funded pre-school education the term after they are 3, but parents can choose to send children from 2 years 9 months if they want to pay for sessions. We also offer wrap around care for parents wanting/needing more than 15 hours. For details of costs please contact the Administrator via the school office.
At Kingsfield we offer a curriculum which is broad, balanced and differentiated to meet individual needs. We set great store by focussing on reading, writing and mathematics, alongside our creative curriculum. We also aim for pupils to have developed the interpersonal skills, confidence, patience, determination and independence to help them succeed in life.
The children benefit from working in bright, cheerful, well resourced classrooms, all with interactive whiteboards. All children have access to a well equipped I.C.T. suite/library in which they can access the I.T. curriculum on a weekly basis. We also have two large halls for a range of activities, including P.E., Singing, Dance, Drama, Assemblies and end of term performances.
Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 children have separate playgrounds, with a third separate, enclosed play area for Early Years Foundation Stage children. Both playgrounds are well equipped with a variety of play equipment including a climbing ship in the Key Stage One playground and a traversing wall in the Key Stage 2 playground. Each playground has an age appropriate trim trail. We have a spacious playing field and other outdoor areas, including a nature area, a five senses garden, quiet seating areas, gazebos and a courtyard.
Kingsfield Primary School is a single-storey, wheelchair friendly school and there is easy access to all areas of the building and school grounds We have a disabled parking place close to the school office and a designated toilet which can accommodate wheelchair access. Accommodating a child’s needs is carefully considered before annual transitions.
The pre-school/extended schools building is situated in our grounds in a separate purpose-built modular building, with its own fenced play area. The pre-school/extended school clubs are accessible from our Larham Way entrance.
